Its hard to be so enthusiastic about a video I'm featured in without sounding arrogant, but god dang this video is good. I only have one clip anyway...in fact it could be the last clip I ever film. When Rod was here in Minneapolis, he had his camera stolen in a somewhat shadier part of town. This is a wonderful city free from much of the crime that plagues most larger cities with diverse populations, but ol' Rod really got the shit end of the stick during the few days he was here. I'm hoping he doesn't hold it against us and returns to visit some day cause THAT GUY IS COOOOL. I'm kind of drunk and rambling. This post is over. Wooooooooo!

Drew Hosselton sure is the man and was recently promoted to pro status on the Volume team. They ignored his badassness so long that I was worried he was becoming a Drew Fossilton. So I decided to revive the dilly blog after nearly a year of inactivity. I don't really have anything to post now though so you may be wasting your time, however I'm hoping this leads to blog greatness unlike anything you've ever seen before...

It only took 3 years to film, too. I'm really hoping to finish the video by the end of January, or at least make a premiere happen by pulling a Dave Parrick and just throwing some shit together that vaguely resembles a video. Premiere happening soon on a date which will be announced as soon as I feel comfortable announcing it...now if only I could find Seth's clips.

Tonight was Forrest From Blueprint's Birthday celebration. We were going bowling which kicked ass because I like to bowl. I did not know that it turned in to Cosmic Bowling at 11p.m. nor did I care until I saw this coincidentally placed "detergent stain"

Moved into a house we finally got the internet set up so now that I can I'd like to let you all know that this morning I saw the biggest god damn cockroach I've ever seen in my life running around my room in which I currently sleep on the floor. So I did what anyone in this situation would do. I grabbed the empty fountain drink cup that I had from the time I ate at Pizza Hut Express at the Target about a mile north on 35 and set it on the ground (minus depressable drink indicator lid) knowing that this fat ass bug couldn't resist the temptation of the day old mountain dew syrup stuck to the inside of the cup, I scooped him up replaced the lid and set him free in our spacious back yard where he can use our hammock play some b-ball on our basketball hoop that has been cemented into a completely grass back yard and climb all over the clothes that we have hanging on the fence because when we use our dryer in smells like someone is setting their hair on fire. I'm having a great time and I miss you all

P.S. I don't miss Cody because I saw that asshole last weekend and I'll see him next weekend. We are going to ruin every dance floor in Austin. Also I got this picture off of Photobucket, that thing is quite a bit bigger than the one I saw.

Hey Team Dilly Readers,

Sitting here at Penn Cycle. With the cool guys. Seth, Joel, MikeDorf, and Googen, who is a samurai. I just want to say I am a huge fan of Team Dilly and all that you stand for.

On a saltier note, I must say in the filming of Cast Away I did kill the pilot to get his shoes and Detroit Lions Starter jacket. My feet hurt a lot, and It was very necessary. Turns out the shoes didn't fit, but the jacket was money.

I fought Nazis in Europe in "Saving Private Ryan" which was a real treat for me. I wish Team Dilly would become a military fighting force because then World Terror would no longer exist. We had to beat the "Good Will Hunting" accent out of Matt Damon every morning before we started filming.

For the record I do not have AIDS, as mentioned in "Philadelphia." Mrs. Hanks is thankful for that. The lesions and hair loss were the result of a convieniently timed tape worm. One word of advice before I'm done, Dilly readers, do not consume raw or undercooked meats.

Good luck to all of Team Dilly, you guys truly make this world a better/safer place for everybody.

One more thing, I have a half full can of Mt Dew here some where and I want it back. I'm the best actor on 2 wheels or any amount of wheels, 4 wheels if I'm acting to be in a wheelchair. BOOM!

dig rejection 2: s&m review

The newest video from S&M is brought to us by Jordan Utley, the same videographer who did the 50/50 shop video "That's It" a few years back. Although it was a tad on the artsy side for my taste, I still really liked the 50/50 video and I had high hopes for 'I Wanna Live'. The similarities between the two videos are constant and, unfortunatly for S&M, everything I thought was creative and unique with the 50/50 video had now become stale. The worst of the editing quirks were the drawn out intros using the re-hashed idea of "natural" titles, and the seizure-inducing black and white zoom flashes littered throughout the video.

Even with the distracting editing, there's still enough amazing riding in 'I Wanna Live' to keep the viewer entertained. Randy Brown's section is a really good way to start it off, however his wild ender was ruined by the ever-popular epic banger buildup. Tony Cardona's part kicked ass as always, and there was a decent mix section in there somewhere with some dope James Cox and Adam Baker footage as well as a clip of Sean McKinney hang five-ing a cruiser. Matt Beringer is one of my favorite bike riders of all time, and his part shows exactly why. I've heard that a lot of people were disappointed in Stricker's section in 'I Wanna Live', but I say give the guy a break. After years of banger video parts, he deserves a little slack from you bastards. The video ends with yet another ridiculous section from Cameron Wood. I hope this dude never stops filming, cause I've thoroughly enjoyed every section he's ever filmed for.

I've got really mixed feelings about this video in it's entirety. As far as filming, riding, and music goes I enjoyed it decently enough, but the overall edit to me just feels like a failed attempt by Utley to adapt his very specific editing style from "That's It" to be more characteristically 'S&M'. Get rid of the intros, interludes, and pointless black and white flashing and I'd probably be writing a rave review, but instead it's more of a "meh".

Let me start this off by saying that I think The Shadow Conspiracy has about the lamest image any BMX-based company can portray, period. That being said I didnt expect all that much from this video, but with a team lineup including Seth Kimbrough, Owain Clegg, and Eli Platt I figured it couldn't suck THAT bad...turns out I was sorely mistaken.

The video starts off with your typical crash/'look at how badass we are' section set to a crappy hardcore song and then moves quickly into Chase Dehart. I actually really liked Chase D's part, but it ends earlier than it should and moves into a few boring sections set to more bad music. Seth Kimbrough's part was one of the biggest letdowns, filled mostly with mediocre clips (for him anyway), and ending with a pretty disappointing and stock ice-180. One of my biggest complaints with this video is that every section begins right when another one ends, leaving no break in the BMX and never any time for the bangin'-ness of the bangers to sink in with the viewer. Occasionally when someone does something on a cool setup, I like to actually see the spot during and after the clip...not another zoom transition of the bricks on the ground. Eli Platt's banger was a serious victim of this, although Eli's section was quite enjoyable (probably because he has one of the only songs with any actual melody to it). Another standout section is the always entertaining Ricky Bates, who seems to be pedaling as fast as he can at all times. That dude rules. The last section belongs to Johnny Devlin, the filmer/editor of the video. Word of advice to anyone out there making a video: never put yourself last. You'll look like a jackass, no matter what. Devlin's section was really good, and probably did deserve to be last...but I still couldn't get past the fact that he gave himself the banger part.

With such a solid team, It's tough to comprehend how an entire video could turn out so dull as a whole. There were plenty of ridiculous stunts that I could have mentioned, however they were heavily outweighed by the consistantly bad music, rapid fire editing style, and overall lack of character. This video did not fill any voids for me (GET IT?!), and personally I think The Shadow Conspiracy should stick to marketing their streetwear to mall goth kids.
